Epic was engaged by Acciona Samsung Bouygues Joint Venture (ASBJV) to provide environmental consulting services across a wide range of fields for the project. The M4-M5 Link Tunnels are being constructed to connect the new M4 at Haberfield and the new M5 at St Peters. Each tunnel is approximately 7.5 kilometres long and will be able to accommodate up to four lanes of traffic in each direction.

Epic completed the following for the project:

  • Phase 1 Environmental Site Assessment

  • Development and implementation of an SAQP for intrusive investigations

  • Development of onsite training and user manuals for the ongoing landfill gas monitoring

  • Development of task specific excavation management plans to allow works to continue in known areas of landfill gas

  • Hazardous ground gas risk assessment to inform the design and assess the risks associated with the construction of the tunnel through the former landfill site

  • Pre-demolition survey, working in tandem with the hazardous materials consultant

Epic worked closely with the ASBJV Environmental Team and the appointed NSW EPA accredited Site Auditor throughout the engagement to ensure the project milestones were met on time and on budget. All key deliverables were reviewed and approved by the Site Auditor.
