Epic was engaged by Veolia Australia and New Zealand (Veolia) to undertake an Independent Environmental Audit (IEA) of one of its Sydney Waste Transfer Facilities. The purpose of the IEA was to address the requirements of the facility's development consent and specifically to evaluate overall compliance and environmental performance of the facility. The audit was led by Epic's Lead Environmental Auditor (certified under Exemplar Global).
Epic completed the following for the project:
Kick off meeting with facility management
Detailed site inspection
Detailed review of permits/regulations and other site documentation
Close out meeting to present findings
Detailed IEA report
The purpose of the audit was to verify compliance and identify opportunities for improvement. Epic was able to objectively demonstrate almost full compliance with environmental regulations and guidance for Veolia and also provide practical improvement recommendations for consideration in the future.
The IEA was completed over a number of days and required a flexible approach to be adopted to accommodate for restrictions associated with the Covid-19 pandemic. Despite challenges in site access, restrictions, and staffing availability, Epic was able to complete the IEA on time and on budget.
