The $5.4 billion Cross River Rail (CRR) Project is a new northsouth rail line connecting Dutton Park to Bowen Hills, which will extend under the Brisbane River and Central Business District.

Epic was engaged by CRR Development Authority to implement the CRR Contamination Strategy which required the establishment of a framework for the identification and management of contaminated land during the CRR design, construction and operational phases.

Acting as the Suitably Qualified Person, Epic undertook baseline contamination assessments across the entire CRR works footprint to inform the proposed design, construction and operational phases. In addition, Epic oversaw remediation and validation works at the Woolloongabba Station site (former Goprint, Land Centre and South Brisbane Dental Hospital). This included the excavation and disposal of approximately 160,000 tonnes of contaminated materials to enable the site to be utilised as the staging area and launch site for the CRR Tunnel Boring Machines and Roadheaders prior to development as a new underground rail station.
