The Environmental Protection and Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2022 was passed (with amendment) in QLD Parliament yesterday (29 March 2023).
Some of the changes include:
Modified contaminated land provisions including: section 389, requiring documents be in the ‘approved form’ and accompanied by certification by an auditor in the ‘approved form’; and changes to the auditor function
Changes to the EIS process
Launching EA for trials, based on only limited supporting information, to support new and emerging technologies and innovation (for a maximum of three years).
Doubling of threshold amounts for material and serious environmental harm.
