EPIC ESSENTIALS

If you are an Ecologist or Environmental Scientist with a minimum of 5 years’ experience, we’d like to hear from you! This role is ideal for someone with a passion for ecology, environmental sciences, rehabilitation, and/or natural resource management.


You would be joining Epic’s Ecology Team which is well respected in the industry. We work with a diverse range of national clients and projects and have undertaken ecological surveys across Queensland, New South Wales, Northern Territory and Tasmania. We are delivering a variety of projects in the resource, agricultural, energy (including renewables) and infrastructure sectors. To meet growing demand, we are looking to expand our teams based in Brisbane and Sydney.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

To be considered for this position, you will need to possess the following skills/experience:

  • Educational Background: Tertiary qualification from a recognised institution in ecology, environmental science, or environmental management disciplines, or similar relevant degree

  • Communication Skills: Proficient written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex issues concisely

  • Technical Skills: Strong knowledge and experience conducting flora and/or fauna surveys in a broad range of environments in Queensland and/or New South Wales

  • Field Skills: Strong knowledge and experience conducting flora and/or fauna surveys

    • Flora surveys, including targeted threatened flora surveys, BioCondition surveys and ground-truthing vegetation communities

    • Fauna surveys, utilising trapping methods such as Elliott traps, funnel traps, pit fall traps, remote cameras and harp traps etc, as well as habitat quality assessments

  • Reporting: Strong understanding of the statutory frameworks, policies and science-based approaches that govern the collection and reporting of ecological values

  • Team Player: In line with our core values, you are a demonstrated team player, able to work with multi-disciplinary teams

  • Project Management: Assist with managing the technical and financial performance of ecological and environmental impact assessment projects

  • Accountability: Demonstrated ability to self-motivate, take ownership, and be accountable for delivery of your work to managers and clients

  • Client Relationships: Excellent client relationship skills with a capability to undertake business development and grow opportunities for Epic

  • GIS: Experience with GIS desktop software such as ESRI ArcGIS and/or QGIS, and data collection packages ArcGIS Fieldmap and Survey123
