Our fast-growing Brisbane office is looking for a Senior Environmental Scientist / Engineer to join our Contaminated Land Team. We have a strong pipeline of projects across all sectors of the contaminated land industry and are looking to grow our project management team.

Under the direction of our Team Leaders, Principal staff and QLD DES accredited Contaminated Land Auditors, you will support the delivery of contaminated land management, and remediation projects as well as working directly supporting contaminated land audit projects.

As a member of the Contaminated Land Team, this position offers diverse tasks and will see you involved in:

  • Driving the delivery of a variety of projects across multiple sectors requiring Contaminated Land investigations and assessments

  • Supporting and managing the delivery of PSIs, DSI, RAPs, CLIDs, ESAs, Due Diligence assessments and more

  • Developing your skills working closely with experienced professionals on a range of projects with the opportunity to undertake Auditor Assistant and Expert Witness Support tasks

  • Supporting various remediation projects and developing your skills in remediation design and managing complex remediation sites

  • Preparing proposals and bids to support our winning strategy

  • Engaging with internal and external clients to plan and deliver high quality outcomes

  • Preparing written reports including a high level of attention to detail, using an objective driven focus

  • Participating in strategy and innovation within the company to foster continued improvement

  • Participating in internal and external presentations to demonstrate learning and knowledge

  • Demonstrating your industry knowledge and experience to develop and maintain client relationships

  • Undertaking fieldworks from time to time

  • Mentoring more junior members of the Contaminated Land Team

To be considered for this, you will need to possess the following:

  • Tertiary qualifications from a recognised institution

  • 5-10 years’ experience in an environmental consulting role with at least 2 years operating in Australia

  • Proficient written and verbal skills, with the ability to communicate complex issues concisely

  • Experience in supporting key aspects of project management and administration, as well as subcontractor and HSE management

  • A high level of competency in Contaminated Land aspects of field work is essential

  • Demonstrated ability to lead, with good influencing, motivating, and delegation skills

  • Ability and interest in engaging and mentoring junior staff to develop and build confidence in their skills

  • Working knowledge of relevant QLD environmental legislation

  • Experience as an SQP or willingness to become one

  • Demonstrated understanding and application of the national technical framework such as NEPM (Assessment of Site Contamination)

  • Demonstrated team player and able to self-motivate and take ownership of and be accountable for delivery of contaminated land tasks and projects

  • Interest in developing and mentoring junior members of the team

  • Strong client relationships and business development skills is desirable

  • Certification by a recognised industry organisation (i.e. CEnvP/CEnvP-SC, CPSS/CPSS-CSAM) is desirable
