EPIC ESSENTIALS
This is a ‘carve your own journey’ role working closely with our team of principal contaminated land specialists and team leaders to support the delivery of complex contaminated land projects. Based in our Brisbane office you will be a key leader in one of Queensland’s largest contaminated land focused teams of 18 professionals and will interface with technical specialists including:
Two contaminated land auditors based in Brisbane and certified in QLD, NSW, VIC, SA, NT and TAS
Three Certified Environmental Practitioner Site Contamination Specialists (CEnvP-SC)
Numerous general CEnvP practitioners
The opportunity exists within Epic to pivot your career to focus on your interests – project management, remediation, technical reporting, team leadership or a mix of the above – as a senior member of the team the role will be formed around you not the other way around.
Epic strongly believes in supporting individual development. In addition to delivering project work you will be supported and encouraged to undertake continuing professional development including active involvement in industry groups and relevant training courses.
The successful applicant will be driven to solve complex contaminated land problems through out of the box thinking and the ability to provide practical solutions on a range of changeling projects which include:
Urban renewal, precinct level design and remediation projects (we are working on some of Queensland’s most complex remediation projects at present!)
Large scale infrastructure projects and contractor support – making it happen in fast paced environments for trusted clients
Property due diligence and transactional advisory for numerous clients across the industrial and commercial real estate market
Strategic per- and poly fluorinated substances (PFAS) management and advice
Naturally occurring radioactive material (NORM) and heavy mineral sands
Technical advisory, expert witness and regulatory strategy support
Contaminated land auditor support (if desired)
WHAT YOU WILL BRING
To be considered for this position, you will need to possess the following:
5-10 years’ experience in a similar role ideally with at least 2 years operating in Australia
Tertiary qualifications from a recognised institution in Science / Engineering or related discipline or similar relevant degree
Proficient written and verbal skills, with the ability to communicate complex issues concisely
Experience in supporting key aspects of project management and administration, as well as subcontractor and HSE management
A high level of competency in Contaminated Land aspects of field work is essential
Demonstrated ability to lead, with good influencing, motivating, and delegation skills
Ability and interest in engaging and mentoring junior staff to develop and build confidence in their skills
Working knowledge of relevant QLD environmental legislation
Experience as an SQP or willingness to become one
Demonstrated understanding and application of the national technical framework such as NEPM (Assessment of Site Contamination)
Demonstrated team player and able to self-motivate and take ownership of and be accountable for delivery of contaminated land tasks and projects
Interest in developing and mentoring junior members of the team
Strong client relationships and business development skills is desirable
Certification by a recognised industry organisation (i.e. CEnvP/CPSS) is desirable although not required
