EPIC ESSENTIALS
We are currently seeking a talented Principal Aquatic Ecologist with a minimum of 15 years’ experience to be based in our Brisbane office. This role is perfect for a market facing consultant looking to take their career to the next level. The ideal candidate will have an industry leading profile and recognition to complement Epic's established reputation, and be able to attract like-minded professionals to assist in building and developing an industry leading aquatic ecology team working across Epic's existing clients and projects.
This position offers excellent variety of work and in the role you will:
Build and develop an aquatic ecology team and mentor junior team members
Undertake the planning and implementation of field based data collection in line with State, Territory Commonwealth regulatory requirements
Support the delivery of a range of projects across multiple sectors
Prepare written technical reports that are science-based and will stand up to community and regulatory scrutiny
Develop and maintain client relationships
Liaise with service providers for the purposes of service delivery
Work as part of a project team to deliver projects to scope and within time, cost and quality requirements.
Participate in strategy and innovation within the company to foster continued improvement.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING
To be considered for this position, you will need to possess the following:
Tertiary qualifications, from a recognised institution, in ecology or an environmental science related discipline, or similar relevant degree
A minimum of 15 years’ experience in an environmental consulting role, preferably operating in Australia
Ability to attract like-minded professionals to assist in building and developing an industry leading aquatic ecology team
Ability to build relationships, manage projects, and participate in business development
Strong knowledge and experience with aquatic fauna sampling methods, including netting, traps and electrofishing
Strong knowledge and experience with other aquatic ecology sampling methods, including macroinvertebrate, diatom and zooplankton sampling
In-depth knowledge and experience with statistical packages and data analysis as it relates to aquatic ecology data
Strong understanding of the statutory frameworks, policies and science-based approaches that govern the collection and reporting of aquatic ecological concepts
Proven experience with preparing winning proposals for small to large scale projects
Proven experience in engaging with client engagement and management
Proven leadership skills and a desire to train, guide and mentor less experienced employees
A current driver's license and ability to drive manual and automatic vehicles
Proficient written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex issues concisely
Demonstrated team player willingness to take ownership of projects
