Associate / Principal Environmental Planner

Epic includes an industry leading and highly regarded Environmental Approvals Team. We are looking for a talented Associate or Principal level Environmental Planner who is interested in taking their career to the next level by working in an environment where they are invited to challenge themselves to think creatively and provide innovative solutions. The role will also afford team leadership opportunities for candidates who are looking to further their leadership skills.

With support from our Team Leaders and Principal staff you will lead the delivery of projects with a focus on statutory approval processes and environmental compliance. An in-depth understanding of NSW and Commonwealth environmental legislation and Registered Environmental Assessment Practitioner Scheme (REAP) certification is highly regarded. Core tasks will include project management, writing reports and impact assessments, internal and client correspondence as well as mentoring junior team members. Fieldworks will be required from time to time.


To be considered for this position, you will need to possess the following:

  • 10+ years of experience in a similar role

  • Tertiary qualifications from a recognised institution in Environmental Planning / Management or related disciplines or similar relevant degree

  • Relevant demonstrated experience in statutory and environmental planning, environmental management, site management, compliance monitoring / reporting and impact assessment

  • In depth knowledge of relevant NSW Environmental legislation including the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979, policies and knowledge of standards and guidelines

  • Registered Environmental Assessment Practitioner Scheme (REAP) certification is highly desirable

  • Experience in renewables, and / or the resources sector is desirable

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and experience in relevant environmental documentation

  • Good client relationships and business development skills

  • Experience as a demonstrated team player
